Chicago had a resurgence and a new career with the release of Chicago 16 in June of 1982.

In the fall of 1981, Chicago asked Bill Champlin, a noted Los Angeles session singer and musician, to join them. "They needed a little bit of guitar work," says Champlin, "and they needed somebody to sing Terry's stuff."
