On March 6, founding Genesis member Tony Banks' new classical album Six Pieces For Orchestra will be released on the Naxos label. This is Tony's second classical recording, following 2004's Seven: A Suite for Orchestra.Tony says of the works: "The titles of the movements refer to the elements of a universal story: seductress, journey, hero, quest, decision and goal. I leave it to the listener to fill in the details, although really it is just music, a story without words."

XII ALFONSO's "The Lost Frontier" is a great first album with an ambitious concept. These young musicians from Bordeaux (France) have built a superb work with long instrumental passages, some female vocals, and a Celtic-influenced atmosphere sometimes reminding of Mike OLDFIELD. "Odyssees" is the second album in 1999, presenting the same sort of beautiful and majestuous music that could have been heard three years ago.
"Claude Monet Vol. 1" is the first delivery of a trilogy dedicated to the last years of the french impressionist painter's Claude Monet life, for the French group XII ALFONSO. This first one surrenders it occupies from the years 1883 to 1889. The relative influences to progressive bands that are appreciated in the album, I believe that they would come mainly from French formations as VITAL MINIMUM or Jean Pascal BOFFO, besides others as Mike OLDFIELD and Steve HACKETT. Those that have not been satisfied with XII ALFONSO's first two albums, they can prove with this third that sincerely I believe that it is a great disk.
HOSTSONATEN – THE RIME OF THE ANCIENT MARINER – CHAPTER ONE 2012

The idea of making a musical transposition of the famous Samuel Taylor Coleridge's poem "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" was conceived by Fabio Zuffanti years ago in 1995, but soon abandoned until today, right after the release of the four chapters of the successful "Seasoncyle" tetralogy about the four seasons. Zuffanti, eminent personality of today's Italian Prog scene, and worldwide acclaimed thanks to his various projects such as Höstsonaten, Finisterre and La Maschera di Cera, has now concluded the first in a series of two volumes dedicated to the "Rime...". The first CD contains the first four parts of the opus, while the second three parts will end on a second album which will be released in 2013. The music is, if possible, more symphonic, theatrical and majestic than ever, with touches of celtic music, hard/new-prog and much more, developed in five long compositions. The vocal duties rely on five different vocalists, with the aim to explore, interpret and give the listener the emotions of the dark and dreamy poem by Coleridge. Fabio Zuffanti's guests in this new adventure are Maurizio Di Tollo (drums), Luca Scherani (keyboards), Matteo Nahum (guitars), Edmondo Romano (sax, bagpipe), Sylvia Trabucco (violin) and Joanne Roan (flute), while Alessandro Corvaglia (La Maschera Di Cera), Carlo Carnevali, Davide Merletto (Daedalus), Mar

is one band that takes post-apocalyptic rock to new levels. With energy-driven riffs and serious stage presence, they are crafting a distinct and impressively mature sound for BC’s alternative independent scene.
The 5 piece collective hails from Vancouver, a city steeped in post-rock sound, and brings a real talent for writing songs that display each individual’s artistic merit.
Self-described as a combination of “robot rock rhythms and riffs of Queens of the Stone Age, the alt-rock/hardcore of Fugazi, the prog-metal leanings of Tool, the sparse, accessible arrangements of early U2, and those tell-tale “post-rock” chords commonly associated with Isis,” The Next Hundred Years really do have their own sound ; one that's gaining momentum.
Ever since being selected as the Fox Band of the Month on BC’s Home of Independent Music, the band has received airplay and was invited to showcase at The Roxy, to the delight of their steadily growing fan base.

The album will be available for download right here on NH7.in and physical copies of the album will be available for sale after May 10. Paradigm Shift have been playing their brand of Hindi prog since 2008, and have played a few gigs around Mumbai and the rest of the country (including Springspree 2012 at IIT Warangal with Xerath).
We spoke to the producer of the album, Vishal J. Singh (of Amogh Symphony), who described his experience of working with Paradigm Shift
Coalescence is an album where each song is a different story in itself. A lot of work has gone into the production of this album with respect to discovering a sound that will go on to represent and define the band in the future. I am proud to be a part of this journey with the band and the whole experience of working on this album was a great experience with these fun-loving guys. I hope listeners will have fun listening to this record as much as we had while making it.
The band will formally launch the album at Blue Frog, Mumbai on Sunday, May 27. Check out the tracklist, cover art and stream their song ‘Khwabon Mein Teri’ below.
