Musically, Crush took the band out of the path of possibly being just a nostalgia band and gave a spark to the members, along with the fans who were led away from them for various reasons, like myself. The maturity of Jon‘s voice also added to the release. This is one Bon Jovi album that was a defining moment in the history of the band to keep it from being outdated.

Crean transforms it into a hard rock anthem, something Sammy Hagar could have recorded. Another shocker is Mazzy Star’s “Fade Into You”, converted into a classy rock ballad, utterly different from the original. The Cars’ “Bye Bye Love” is another brilliant choice (not that you can go wrong with any Cars). It works well as hard rock. “Falling In Love”, a Scorpions oldie written by Herman Rarebell, adds a heavy kick at the right time.

Jet Black Alley Cat delivers a blend of 80´s pop/rock and modern melodic rock not that far from Vattica, especially in the highlight "Fight XVIII" but my favorite song is "Rewind" that can be described as a more rocking Simple Minds.
