We were pleasantly surprised by ANCIENT MACHINE’s new album ‘Distance Between Us’ featured here yesterday, a very interesting band inspired by classic ’80s / ’90s melodic hard rock / AOR. After further investigation, we find the group released past year their self-titled debut album “Ancient Machine“, and early 2022 they did extra, bonus tracks.

If you are told that ANCIENT MACHINE is Canadian band, don’t be fooled. This is merely because Emerson Tanaka (bass) and Kiko Dittert (guitar) live in Vancouver. But they and vocalist Thales Maciel are Brazilian. Geographical details aside, what really matters is the trio makes a very competent mix of hard rock, AOR and melodic rock.

Liesegang featuring Glenn Hughes & John Wetton. Montreal based power trio No Strings Attached released their mega-rare self titled debut album back in 1996 through PMD Records. The liner notes on the back say it all: “Music with an emphasis on melodic and harmonic content has been overlooked… No Strings Attached is not about following trends or jumping on bandwagons.”
