NOW!Day of Color...

Enemynside is an Italian band that now releases their fourth album and generally they were categorized in thrash metal. I think they play more of a metal rock version with somewhat raw vocals and just good songs with some unexpected twists and turns. In ‘Snot’ for example they suddenly use keyboards and that gives the song a more contemporary feel. Unfortunately sometimes they try too hard to find a melody, especially the vocal melodies are a bit difficult. Musically however it is all great and the songs have all been written well. ’Rise Up’ is a nice song with a different rhythmic feel and a fitting vocal melody. And ‘Too Many Times’ has a guest appearance by guitarist Richie Kotzen. Certainly a band that deserves a chance.

Now!Hot Heart Cold ...

Regular listeners of 3FM and related stations have through the pleading Dance With Me already acquainted with the unmistakable qualities of Kill Ferelli (consisting of members of the Limburg bands Dreadlock Pussy, Liftid, Viberider and SAT2D), which also have an EP on his name.

A Modern Scenery brings us with any short crackling (of inpluggende instruments?) First in the energetic Devil Zone, but offers with songs like NYC, July and slightly leaning to Lacuna Coil The Messenger also many lyrical moments.

Characteristic of this band are passionate and captivating vocals of front lady Kelly Kockelkoren and compact, appealing directly to the construction of numerous exuberant choruses interspersed songs. Everything, to the occasional guitar solos in Mr.. Niceguy and Blush is as concise as effectively.

NOW!Bloddy...

Blessed are those who know to stay true to the artistic traditions and still manage to create something fresh and powerful. In the field of heavy metal music these kind of artists became scarce over the years, for there were too many new bands emerging from a well of spirit that seems way too small to have enough of anything that would inspire too many minds. But every now and then there is one act doing the same old style but with a different and new song and I can tell you, WOLFSHADE is such a band. They draw their inspirations from the days before the metal, when even the heavier groups were still classified as “ROCK” and when there were a few aspects on which the musicians put an emphasize, such as high level playing skills, a charismatic voice with a strong expression and compositions that were memorable but still solid, with exciting structures. Some of you will remember those days fairly well, others may not but many, young and old, still worship the spirit of the ancient times. Among them the Italian heavy metal / hard rock group WOLFSHADE. They give each of their compositions a different approach while still maintaining their very own direction.

‘A Broken State of Bliss’, the debut release from London rockers, The Mercy House very nearly didn`t happen as health issues almost derailed the band before they`d even got off the ground. Fortunately such obstacles were overcome with plenty of grit and determination and the end result is well worth the wait.

NOW!Through the mirror...

As its brooding and ever so slightly clichéd title suggests, 'Suffering And Passion' contains all the essential ingredients for eyeliner-flecked, goth metal perfection. Having sparked glowing comparisons with genre titans Within Temptation and Tarja, these fledgling metallers are already causing quite a stir across the continent.

now!The Protest (formerly Protest for Pluto) is a five-piece hard rock outfit in the vein of bands like Disciple and Pillar. The band is releasing their first full-length record since their name change and they have recruited Dove Award Winning producer Travis Wyrick to do so. Game Changer marks not only a stronger focus for the band spiritually, but also a much more polished sound musically and vocally. The album kicks off with the solid riffing of "Reinvention," and with it, plenty of energy. The lyrics are sung as a prayer to God to be recreated in Him. Singer Josh Bramlett has obviously been working on his screams as they sound much better and crisper as he belts them out. While "Reinvention" is a solid opener, "Resist" may be the album's best track. While most of the song is the same rock formula found on the rest of the album, almost two minutes in, it takes on a Powerman 5000 vibe that works really well for the band. "Don't Waste Time" and "Throw the Roses" (about dying to sin and self) are two more solid rockers that lead up to the double dose of guest Noah's found on the disc. More»

NOW!

Swedish progressive metallers Renaissance Of Fools are about to release their debut album entitled Faith, Hope & Frustration. The CD title is appropriate, as the listener will undoubtedly experience all three of those feelings while playing it.

Founded by guitarist/composer Daniel Magdic (Pain of Salvation) and drummer Magnus Karlsson (ex-Leech & Machina – not to be confused with Primal Fear’s guitarist of the same name) and later bolstered by bassist BjörnTauman and guitarist/vocalist Kjell Bergendahl; Renaissance Of Fools is looking to enter the crowded progressive metal scene. They hope to stand out by mixing in some heavier elements along with some lighter meditative aspects, thus broadening the range of the genre.

The songwriting is solid throughout the release, and the musicianship is top-notch, but the overall musical tone is dark, heavy and a bit depressing. Kjell Sjostrom is a solid singer, but at times he seems to follow the overall tone of the album and comes across as somewhat disinterested or bored. He does have many fine moments, perhaps the strongest being the intense and varied “Misguided Mind”. Sjostrom’s guitar works well with the vast talents of primary guitarist Daniel Magdic, who loves laying down thick and heavy riffs and well as brilliant solos. The bottom end and backbone of Renaissance Of Fools is provided by standout bassist Bjorn Tauman and fine drummer Magnus Karlsson. These two make a fine team and really hold the album together whether playing at full steam or tiptoeing through a more ballad-like piece.

NOW!Meat NOT Need...Only Here

APOCALYPSE 666 is their third album and their new singer Iris Boanta from the all-girls-AC/DC-tribute-band Black Thunder Ladies. This band offers very rough but melodic vocals, which has nothing to with symphonic Scandinavian Nightwish-imitations. Most songs on this album offer you classic and true Heavy Metal with powerful and sometimes speedy doublebass-drums, obligatory twin-guitar passages, sophisticated guitar solos, a little bit of clichés in their lyrics and a pumping bass-line. The band plays a mixture between US-Metal, a bit of New Wave Of British Heavy Metal and European Power-Metal. The production of this album is very strong and powerful. The Mystery is a must for everyone who wears an Iron Maiden-patch on his jacket!

NOW!Will be Hot..

Here we go... We are Wolfbane and we released our first full length "Ace In The Hole" (which is available on itunes) in May 2012 and it got us the attention of someone in the business who truely believes in us our music and wants to pitch us to major record labels. However, in order to do that we needed to make a 3 song demo that's even better than the album and we have done that and an icon in the business is ready to mix and master it for us! We are going to work with Michael Wagener (He mixed Master of Puppets, enough said there) down in Nashville at the beginning of August and we need help! We've paid for the studio time, but we need gas, food, and hotel money!
