In 1973 Melody Maker has an advert announcing..."Singer wanted for German Top 40 band..." - Ian Cussick takes part in the auditions and lands the part as the new lead vocalist for the Tornados, which soon transformed to Lake. In 1974 Ian left Lake and after working as session musician in Germany for a couple of years, he released his first solo album on Metronome. The album has never been reissued on cd.

In the 90's The Brandos was a popular act in Europe. The extensive touring in Europe helped keeping the interest alive, however Rupprecht and Mason decided to leave the band in 1993. The album The Light of Day was recorded with the help of a few friends, especially ex-Del Lords members Scott Kempner (guitar, vocals) and Frank Funaro (drums, vocals). Most of The Brandos albums at the time was only issued for European release like this their third effort.
