Buster Brown , Rose Tattoo & Angry Anderson Discography (1974 – 2021), MP3
Yes it’s been a long & winding road, precisely because it’s so important to everyone involved.
Here’s a greatly abridged version of the events so far:
In the beginning all we had was the same cassette source as was used for the bootleg which eventually wasn’t deemed good enough source material for remastering because one of the channels had an audio flaw that we couldn’t fix to everyone’s satisfaction. Then we finally rediscovered the original master tapes but they required specialist restoration. There was then a lengthy dispute about who owned the legal rights to the recordings. By the time this was settled Angry & the various ex-members & representatives of the estates of now-deceased bandmates were so frazzled & fed up with the whole thing that they didn’t want to know about it any more.
Then drummer Paul DeMarco was sent to prison on serious weapons & drug charges and guitarist Mick Cocks died so Angry decided to put Rose Tattoo on ice.
After a period where Angry toured with his solo band & with Blood, Sweat & Beers, he brought Rose Tattoo back out of mothballs & negotiations began about the lost album once more, thanks to Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, (but that’s a whole other story).
Albert Productions released ‘Street Fighting Man’ from the lost album as part of a box set to celebrate 50 years of Alberts but then lost the tapes somehow. ..
This is the abridged version remember. :0
Fortunately the tapes finally re-emerged along with a wealth of more unreleased vintage Tatts material that we would never have known about had the lost album not been lost again, so it actually proved to be a happy accident. This provided enough bonus material that the finished article was now set to be a double album, but all that material had to be sifted through and given approval, the tapes restored and digitally archived and the rights negotiated all over again.
Then Angry’s son was murdered.
At that point everything stopped. It seemed like the project was done & never likely to see the light of day, but after some time had passed Angry returned with a new Tatts line up & we were pleasantly surprised to hear that he was once again enthusiastic about returning to work on the lost record after they got back from a European tour. They announced US dates to follow the release of ‘the Outlaws’ record & the plan was to resume work on their return. Studio time was booked & schedules synchronised…
Then covid happened & everything turned to shit yet again.
Since then, work has continued on the project, but it’s been difficult because everyone’s been in lockdown in different places. Lots of zoom conferences, much file swapping, but with a lot of determination to see it through for everyone who’s no longer with us any more.
So we won’t be stopped by Omichron variants or by the doubters, cause ‘we can’t be beaten’ and the lost album will finally see the light of day.
I hope that answers your question. 😉
“we’re preparing the original tapes for a future official release ”
You been saying this for at least ten years. When are you going to get your act together and actually release this? If this album is so important why can’t you get it released?
I asked you nicely not to post ‘The 1980 Lost Album ‘Scarred For Life” here because we’re preparing the original tapes for a future official release & you complied, yet 12 months later you’ve posted it yet again.
Please remove it or we’ll be forced to take legal action against you & your site. Thank you.
If you don’t remember our previous interaction hopefully this will refresh your memory:
Please remove the download links for this album from your site. This is an unofficial bootleg version of recordings which are due to be officially issued in digitally remastered form by Aztec Records (AU). The Aztec version is officially sanctioned by the band & will have copious sleevenotes by the band’s lynchpin Angry Anderson & pristine remastered sound.
In accordance with the band’s instructions, as a tribute to their fallen comrades the profits from it’s sale will be donated to Cancer charities in memory of the 6 former members of Rose Tattoo who have perished from that terrible disease, (including 3 of the 4 members who play on this album).
This bootleg issue is an insult to their memories and it’s presence here in this sub-par form risks potentially putting people off from supporting the upcoming sanctioned release, depriving the charities of the monies it should generate for them. With all this in mind, please comply with my request to remove the link, support the official release & help celebrate this legendary band’s incredible legacy & the philanthropic effort they’ve undertaken in memory of their fallen friends. Thank you for your understanding, Marc.
