”Rocky Road” is the third album in three years from the reunited ’80s AOR act BITE THE BULLET, their fourth counting the debut CD in 1989. Now 2023, bandleader / singer Mick Benton and original guitarist Malcolm Jones are joined by Graham Cowling (Drums), Ant King (Bass) and Steve Hill (Keyboards).
BITE THE BULLET from this current century adds a Melodic Rock feel, plus a timeless classic rock sound to their sound. There are AOR-sounding tracks such as ”Dead Man Walking”, ”Atlantic Highway” and ”Digging that Hole” but a song like ”Rock Road” belong to Eighties Americanized rock&pop.
A track like ”Ironstone” bring thoughts to Dare, while ”Dancing Eyes” has that typical 80s soundtrack John Parr vibe all over. Then, the ballad ”Waiting For You” is pretty retro, almost late Seventies type of FM radio tune.
