Decade 1983-1993 is a retrospective from Australian rock band Choirboys. I confess I had never heard of the band before running across this collection at the local used CD store, but I've had good luck trying Australian rock bands from the `80s (Screaming Jets and The Angels come to mind), so I gave it a try.

The choirboys are exactly what aussie rock is all about and that's crank it up....... If the amp blows up, kick it!..... If you break a string, burn the guitar.....break a cymbal, trash the kit............as long as they have a pulse, they are rock! Since the mid 80's the choirboys have been performing in pubs, clubs, theatres, concert halls and football grounds around the world. Along the way they've released some of the biggest and most influential songs of the past two decades - hits including the rock anthems 'run to paradise' and 'boys will be boys'.

It always seems odd to me. How is it possible that there are still traditional heavy metal bands in America? Mostly I get pitched bands from Europe. But in the last three weeks or so, I've had several from my own country. Here's Zero Down from Seattle, you know, the place that gave us grunge which basically killed classic metal and Eighties hard rock.

Ferdy Doernberg – Just A Piano And A Handful Of Dreams (1995)
Jan 16, 2015 13:54
Hard Rock Progressive Rock

In its final output 'Walls Of Never' had the Hanoverian Rough Silk leave the metal rail in favor of proggigen Rocks. So it is hardly surprising that Rough Silk keyboardist Ferdy Doernberg läbt are largely left on his solo album Metal. In most cases, it sounds by mixing of Al Stewart's 'Year Of The Cat' and the final 'The Final Cut' by Pink Floyd. Slow Motion, a little bit rock and a lot of feeling. On the Organ Witchcraft 'The Organization', however, a Jon Lord would be proud of yourself, and bluesy as 'A Telephone Operator Love Story' is never of Use.
