Frontiers Records will release the new HOUSE OF LORDS studio album,"Big Money", on September 23 in  Europe and September 27 in North America.

Following on the heels of "Cartesian Dreams"HOUSE OF LORDS is coming back with another amazingly strong release which presents again all the  elements of its melodic hard rock sound.

"I am very proud to have done four HOUSE OF LORDS CDs with the same lineup," says singer James Christian. "I enjoy working with every one of them and plan to do many more records in the future. Mark Baker has now been on board as a co-writer for the last two CDs I love working with him. We are totally on the same page when writing new music."

According to a press release, "Big Money" starts with the trademark vocals of James Christian and crashes into a power rock classic that you will not forget after the first listen, followed by in a song that Christian describes as "the band's best work to date," "One Man Down". Each song has its own distinct quality as you would expect from the LORDS and once again the album is full of soaring choruses, awesome guitar work and songs that grab you from the first listen and don't let go.

"The elements we use on 'Big Money' are always the same for us and that is to write and record the best songs that we can," explainsChristian. "We always write enough songs for more than one CD and then we pick the best songs to make up the new record. We will always be a melodic rock group. It is the music that made us want to be musicians in the first place. So we will always stay true to that art!"

James teamed up again on the songwriting with longtime friend and partner Mark Baker, along with the other bandmembers Jimi Bell and BJ Zampa and Swedish producer/guitarist Tommy Denander.

Holy Force is the personal project and platform for versatile guitarist Ango Chen . He has some heavy hitters helping him on this self-titled debut including vocalist Mark Boals , bassist Mike LePond , and drummer Kenny 'Rhino' Earl . With little doubt, considering this line up, expectations are high for Holy Force.

Fortunately, Chen and company do not disappoint. Essentially this work is melodic heavy and power metal driven by the guitar theatrics of Ango Chen, who plays in the neo-classical rock and metal tradition. He shreds and soars with ease throughout Holy Force with basic fret fireworks, but also large doses of guitar synths. He also offers three instrumentals: two guitar, Breathe and Waiting, and one piano, Sky Etude.

Line Up:
Mark Boals - Vocals (Iron Mask, Mark Boals, Ring of Fire, Seven the Hardway, The Codex, ex-Empire, ex-Maestro Alex Gregory, ex-Royal Hunt)

DOWNLOAD CELTIC ROCK TODAY 1 CD  2CD

Under their original name of Clan Na Gael, the Orlando-based Seven Nations (led by Kirk McLeod) solely played traditional Celtic tunes. But soon, after realizing that (1) no one could spell "Clan Na Gael" and (2) about seven other groups used the same moniker, the band decided on a name change. Wanting to evoke more than just the Scottish/Irish portion of their Celtic influences, they decided upon Seven Nations, which encompasses all of the Celtic territories of Scotland, Ireland, Brittany, Wales, Cornwall, Galicia, and the Isle of Man. This name change period also saw the addition of a drummer, amending their "Celtic" label to also include "Rock."

Big Dog represents these changes' fruition. Seven Nati

ons still play traditional tunes, but they also begin to play originals, principally by McLeod and "antipypr" Neil Anderson. Big Dog also sees the band setting themselves apart from their ilk by performing a cover of "Under the Milky Way," a 1980s hit by The Church. The use of Anderson's bagpipes in place of a rock guitar solo is an innovation that simply has to be heard to be fully appreciated.

Even with songwriting chores added to their repertory of skills, Seven Nations' song talent still lies primarily in choice. Trad songs like "Blackleg Miner" and "Crooked Jack" are definitely among the highlights on an album with few. The main drawback of the album is its sound; tinny at worst, the production seems to show a band that lacks confidence, something that is present in spades on their live Road Kill releases. One could possibly assume that the studio atmosphere led to a stifling of the creative influence, because, despite its solid musicianship, Big Dog comes off as a rather stale affair.

It isn't until the dual Road Kill releases that Seven Nations real

ly comes to life. A change of drummers may have been an ingredient in this rejuvenation, as the reluctant sticking of Nick Watson is replaced by the eager pounding of Ashton Geoghagan, who adds real rock power -- as well as some impressive solos -- to the undercarriage of the songs, something that was missing in their studio counterparts. Most importantly, though, there is a sense of fun on these two albums, with the stage banter and band laughter enhancing an already energetic pair of CDs. The songs benefit from being let loose from the studio confines and allowed to breathe free.

The live atmosphere, unfortunately, also allows a lot of what is wrong with Seven Nations' w

ork to come to light. The level of pretense is sometimes overwhelming. Often it only shows up in little things -- like McLeod counting off "one, two, three, four" in Spanish at the beginning of a song, the band wearing kilts onstage, or Anderson affecting an Irish accent. But then at other times -- like Anderson's moody narration that opens their live rendition of "Whiskey in the Jar" -- it all but ruins the rest of the song. Piper Anderson's chops seem very impressive on first listen, but after a few repeats, he appears to have a limited number of tricks up his sleeve. Anderson left the band shortly after the release of these two albums to work on solo projects.

With a continual change of bandmates (only bassist Struby has remained throughout each inception), Seven Nations has been akin to a Kirk McLeod solo project -- in the same way that The Cure is very much Robert Smith's band with other members for ease of production -- so it was no surprise when McLeod announced the release of a solo album. The surprise was that it was going to contain only solo piano works with voice. Apparently, McLeod's occasional solo piano interludes scattered throughout the Seven Nations oeuvre (e.g., "The Selling of Waternish" on Big Dog) had been fan favorites -- although not mine.

And So Piano is very much a solo album. McLeod's piano is accompanied by many layers of his own voice in harmony and chorus with himself. Not only is this announced boldly in the liner notes ("This CD contains only acoustic piano and vocals performed by Kirk McLeod."), but it is also strategically placed just above the designation "Produced by Kirk McLeod."

All but one of the songs on So Piano were also written by McLeod; he reinterprets previous band numbers (including an expanded "Waternish"), as well as adding new tracks. The final cut seems to affirm my opinion of Seven Nations as Cure-like, with a cover of that band's single "Boys Don't Cry." The trouble with this song (as with the rest of the album) is that McLeod has a tendency towards heavy dramatics in his singing and playing. In a band setting, there was always an opportunity for balance with the other instruments, but here there is no such check system: the man is in complete control of everything happening in the studio, and he allows himself to let his dramatic trait run free, to the detriment of the listener.

Which made it all the more surprising that, of these four albums, I kept returning more and more to So Piano. It grew on me, as the phrase goes. This was probably due more to the kind of music than to anything else. One of the reasons for the success of this album musically over the band-oriented material is that McLeod's flawless vocal pitch does not match up well with their grinding rock and roll music. It is much more suited to the melodic piano tunes here than to more boisterous guitar- and drums-based numbers. Even so, the CD still wears out its welcome after three or four tracks. The similarities between the songs become monotonous to someone who thrives on variety.

Seven Nations are a solid Celtic rock band, but there is very little that brings them above the realm of "recommendable"; I can think of several others that are better examples of the genre -- and I don't know that many. To their credit, their version of "Crooked Jack" worms its way into my brain quite often these days, but I do not yearn to hear them further. In fact, my one recommendation lies solely in the band's clean-cut appearance of late: they are the Celtic rock band you can bring home to Mother.

"Worship Music", the long-awaited new studio album from ANTHRAX, one of the four original architects of speed and thrash-metal, has been confirmed for a September 13 release date on Megaforce Records (one day earlier internationally via Nuclear Blast Records), it is announced today. Appropriately, "Worship Music" will street the day before the band's triumphant return to their native New York to play at Yankee Stadium as part of the "Big Four" concert extravaganza.

Not only is "Worship Music" ANTHRAX's first studio release in eight years, but the album marks the return of vocalist Joey Belladonna, whose last studio work with the band was 1990's "Persistence of Time". Belladonna is now firmly back in the ANTHRAX lineup with drummerCharlie Benante, guitarists Scott Ian and Rob Caggiano, and bassistFrank Bello.

"Getting Joey back in as our full-time, permanent singer solidified us as a unit like we hadn't been in years," said Ian. "All of us were on the same page creatively, working together, writing together, and becoming a band again."

"I get goosebumps listening to the new music," Benante admitted. "Scottand Rob's guitars are absolutely on fire, Frankie kicks butt on bass, and hearing Joey sing, well, the band sounds like ANTHRAX — Joey's back and it's great."

Added Ian, "This record is filled with not just four years of our lives, but with our lifetime in the band. It encompasses it all, and when I listen to the record, I can hear all the energy and love and hate and pain and laughter that went into this."

The 11-track "Worship Music" was produced by ANTHRAXRob Caggiano and Jay Ruston and recorded over a four-year period at studios in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. Belladonna's return to the band prompted some of the songs originally recorded to be re-crafted with fresh lyrics or tweaked to better suit his overall vibe and energy. Some of the songs were completely replaced with brand-new songs and, of course, all have Belladonna's inimitable vocal stamp on them.

"We had the unusual luxury of hindsight with this album," Ian explained. "We were able to live with the songs we originally recorded, look back on them and see what we really loved about them and what we could make better."

"I'm very happy with the record, it sounds like ANTHRAX," saidBelladonna. "There are some interesting twists and turns on it, and plenty of tunes for fans to get their fingers on. I felt very comfortable working with Jay Ruston, and I think everyone brought to the table what they needed to. Now it's time for the fans to listen and get what they've been waiting for. I'll tell you, I'm really excited."

"Worship Music" is loaded with stand-out tracks. While "Judas Priest" is a nod to the huge influence that band has had on the members ofANTHRAX and metal heads everywhere. "I'm Alive" is beautiful and grand with a build that demands audience participation. "Crawl" is dark and moody, and filled with a lot of the emotion and stress the band was feeling when it was written. "Fight 'em 'til You Can't" is a song about killing zombies, and who doesn't love a good zombie song? It's the one new track that ANTHRAX has played live since they started touring withBelladonna a year ago, and has been getting tremendous audience response. The song "Earth on Hell" is classic ANTHRAX thrash. "The Devil You Know" is best-described as "an AC/DC groove filtered through an ANTHRAX lens," while "In The End" is epic-sounding and ANTHRAX's way of remembering the late Ronnie James Dio and Darrell "Dimebag" Abbott.

"'In The End' does have a melancholy feel," confessed Benante,"and when we play it live, Ronnie and Dimebag will be right there with us on stage."

And just where did the title "Worship Music" come from? "One night, many years ago, I fell asleep with the TV on," explained Benante. "About four or five in the morning, I woke up, picked up the remote and pulled up the digital program guide. There was a show on called 'Worship Music', and I thought 'what a great title for an album.' Most heavy metal fans worship their favorite bands, metal heads are so loyal to metal, going to a concert is like going to a house of worship. 'Worship Music' said it all."

When ANTHRAX first started "Worship Music", they had no idea if the music would ever see the light of day, but they carried on because making music is what they do, it's in their blood. According to Ian, "It took everything in us as people to make this record and it shows. We went back to square one and did it for the same reason we did it back then, because we worshipped music and we still do. Music is something worth worshipping."

ANTHRAX will support "Worship Music" with a massive world tour. Dates will be announced shortly.
