Megadeth bassist David Ellefson is among the high-profile guest musicians who appear on Time To Rock, the debut album from ex-Lizzy Borden guitarist Chris Sanders’ new project, Knight Fury.
Others sharing their virtuosity include Alice Cooper drummer Ken Mary and vocalist William King.
Sanders commented on the collaboration in an early 2011 Full Metal Review interview.
“It was great to have Ken Mary on drums and Dave Ellefson on bass,” said Sanders. “William King did the vocals and just nailed it. Everyone added the perfect blend to create a great record. These truly are the best musicians I have ever worked with.”

As it is with many singers/songwriters, our inspiration comes from the journeys we walk in life. Never has this been truer for 25 year Compassion advocate, Grammy Nominated and Dove Award Winning artist – Geoff Moore. After a 4 year hiatus from recording, Moore is back with a new album, Saying Grace. From the beginning this album will embrace the listeners’ heart with Moore’s familiar storytelling way and raw melodic tones. The album opens with a song entitled “Believe”. It begins as a reflective piece which continuously builds instrumentally throughout the song. The message of the song will offer hope and assurance to all who at one time or another are faced with struggles and trials in life. Easily an anthem song for this album. The title track “Saying Grace” gives the feeling as though you’re sitting down with the family for a time of prayer. This song has a slight country feel with harmonies and mandolin playing in the background throughout. ”The Wonder of Kindness” is another track with a country feel. Pure harmonies, tight acoustic work, tambourines and mandolin give this song a reflective feel. With words like “The wonder of Your kindness is something I can’t earn,” reminds the listener of God’s great love for his children.
“Overwhelming Love” - a favorite of mine on this album. With lyrics that tear at your heart such as, ”Let us be ruined by your overwhelming love“, and ”if we could see just one glimpse of who you are than we would be undone“. The song styling is driven by a contemporary rock beat with great guitar work throughout. This song truly speaks the heart of Moore when he states, “‘Saying Grace’ is an album about thankfulness. The last few years God has let me walk some hard roads with people I love. These songs were born of those journeys. My prayer is that they will be good traveling companions. I wrote them to encourage all our hearts that we are loved, and cared for. That on our best, or hardest, days we would be overwhelmed by God’s great love for us.”
Saying Grace released in August 2011. Certainly an album I would highly recommend.

Like an avalanche roaring down from the Alps, Desert Sin’s upcoming album Destination Paradise will have the ground shaking. The Austrian five piece metal band hails from Tyrol in the Alps, and looks poised to make a big impact on the melodic power metal scene with their latest release on Pure Steel Records.
Desert Sin’s roots reach back to 2000, when the lineup stabilized. The first incarnation consisted of Sandro Holzer (lead vocals, guitars), Rainer Fischer (bass) , Roman Fischer (keyboards), and Harald Vogl (drums). They released their first studio CD MMIV in 2004, and followed up with 2005?s Zero Hour after adding guitarist Stefan Entner to the mix. They recorded a promo CD for the “Keep it True X” festival in 2008 entitled All in One, and then released The Edge Of Horizon in early 2009. Destination Paradise is their latest effort, and second on Pure Steel Records.
Desert Sin is fronted by vocalist and guitarist Sandro Holzer. Vocally Holzer sounds like a melding of Mark Boals and Ripper Owens, with a slight touch of Geoff Tate thrown in for good measure. He is a decent guitarist, and makes a fine teammate for fellow axe-man Stefan Entner. The two lay down some complex and intricate lines while never failing at the basics of melody and chord. Roman Fischer’s keyboards complement the guitars well, and are a key contributor to the music without dominating the sound. The fine bass of Rainer Fischer and big double bass drums of Harald Vogl form a solid and impressive backbone.
Soft acoustic guitars on the instrumental “Awakening” open the album before the power metal riffs of the title track slam into the listener. “Destination Paradise” sets the tone for the balance of the release, filled with traditional power metal tempo changes, keyboard sequences and somewhat metaphysical lyrics. More Intense riffs drive (the non-Rainbow) “Kill The King,” and the track us built fully around the rhythm line. Booming bass drums and an Iron Maiden influenced opening make “Would You Release Me” an interesting track which features great bass and pounding drums. Big bass and drums open “Follow Me” before an almost progressive metal rhythm takes over. This track allows Holzer to stretch his vocals to the limit. Great guitars and a nice keyboard riff make this song the showpiece of the album.
Eerie keyboards and a galloping bass opening on “In Silence” kick off the second half of the album in fine style. A bit of a Queensryche influence is apparent in the chorus of the moody “The Seed Of Destruction.” Both lead and rhythm guitars on this track are simply superb – the finest on the album. The lyrics of “Creation” present an interesting look at religion in general, and the drum line within is a double bass showcase. Good bass and slick guitars make this the second best on the release. A neat bass opening, clockwork tight drums and dissonant keyboards give “Hero” a distinctly military feel, while a tidy guitar riff and multi-layered vocals allow “Circle Of Twilight” to end the album on a high.
The production and technical aspects of Destination Paradise are excellent – just as one would expect from power metal. The songs are well written and performed with spirit and enthusiasm, and it is obvious from the level of musicianship that Desert Sin is a veteran act. The only negative of the album is the consistent brooding intensity. It would be nice to hear a band of this caliber mix things up just a bit more and throw in a slower track, or something that really lets them crank it to eleven.
While there is nothing revolutionary about Destination Paradise, Desert Sin provides a fine example of the art of power metal. A solid album from beginning to end, Destination Paradise should be on the short list of anyone looking to fill out their European power metal collection. This release will not disappoint fans of the genre.

VOODOO SIX – Falling Knives [Limited Edition] (2011)
Jan 13, 2012 19:28
Hard Rock
London based hard rockers VOODOO SIX first came to many people's attention with their album 'First Hit For Free' in 2008, furnished with critical acclaim from the likes of Iron Maiden's Steve Harris and music critics alike.
Following 'Fluke?' (2010) which was engineered by Mike Fraser (Aerosmith, Metallica), Voodoo Six is releasing "Falling Knives", a limited edition EP only available digitally until the end of February.
This new EP features three brand new tracks and three re-worked versions of songss from Voodoo Six's debut.
The band's sound is a rough-around-the-edges take on traditional Hard Rock boasting the raw energy of '70s / '80s bands, plus an accessible Classic Rock feel. The result feels very trendy and unusually cool for what is essentially tarted-up old man's rock.
Seems these guys are a blast on the stage and that feeling really comes over on the EP.
"Falling Knives" works well at any volume, but it really makes sense when your speakers have smoke pouring from them.
The title track is a bouncy affair with a Southern US rock charm about it. "Sharp Sand" features a commercial chorus and has chart-botherer written all over it. This track is a punchy affair, played in a modern context but with interesting stop/start sections as well.
"Stop" has a good groove running beneath it, a very 70's flavored track laden with attitude and intensity.
The re-recorded songs are solid as well. "One More Day" should be a live favorite with its heavy-funk catchy intro, "Feed My Soul" sounds like Chris Cornell / Soundgarden featuring guitar subtleties that makes it extremely pleasing to the ear, whilst "No Friend (Of Mine)" rounding the EP off with some power, sounding as a heavier version of Black Country Communion.
"Falling Knives" is a really effective Hard Rock EP played in the classic style with modern stylings thrown in.
What most I like from Voodoo Six is their clear sound, powerful and blasting, but all the instruments are perfectly separated in the mix helped by a really good production.
Luke Purdie has born to sing classic Hard Rock, Tony Newton's bass is pumping, low-down and dirty, while the guitars riffs & solos are sharp and panned on both channels.
Voodoo Six seems destined for great things on the back of high profile tours with Iron Maiden, Extreme and Alice Cooper, also performing at The Download Festival.
Hat off to these guys for their ability to create genuine Hard Rock exciting sounds.
