It's not too often that you'll see "recommended if you like Iron Maiden, Bullet For My Valentine, and As I Lay Dying" when talking about one specific band, but that's exactly what happened when I received the press sheet for Affiance's sophomore album, The Campaign. With nearly two years between the band's previous release entitled No Secrets Revealed and the forthcoming The Campaign, expectations seem to be fairly high amongst fans of the band. Two years is quite a while between albums, but I'm glad that Affiance took their time with this album because it shows that they wanted to improve and not release a half-assed album just to silence their pleading fans. The Campaign has a release date of November 13th through Bullet Tooth Records.

Though it seems like frontman Dave Mustaine is getting more attention these days for slightly deranged and paranoid theories, his band Megadeth will soon celebrate the 20th anniversary of their most successful album, 1992's Countdown to Extinction.
Due out November 6, 2012, the deluxe double CD release will be in a "lift-top box" and include the remastered album with a 1992 concert, recorded live at San Francisco's Cow Palace. The concert audio has been newly remixed for this release.

Yep, that’s her real name.
OK, it’s her first and middle name, but one should take fortune where they find it. Those who might find sacrilege in this invocation of a sainted handle can rest assured that it’s in good hands. In this case, a young (born 1992) woman who more than personifies a great and grand American tradition. More»
JUDICATOR – KING OF ROME 2012

Almost immediately you're going to hear the chief influences on this band musically. Pressing the play button might as well be like popping in a long lost Blind Guardian album from the early 90's. The infectious speed metal riffs with bits of thrash, a melody driven vocal attack with copious harmonized layers, and conceptual lyrics constructed of an epic story. All of the pieces of the puzzle fall right into place. While for some bands this is a limitation and the tough measuring stick to live up to, Judicator manage to strike a balance of worship and originality which most others aren't able to achieve (even the mighty Savage Circus borrow a bit too much from BG/Iron Savior in their approach, in my opinion). This becomes readily apparent on track 2, Into The Sea Of Bayonets, when guest death

A delightfully sleazy low-fi trio of numbers is displayed on the self-titled debut EP from Chicago's Stone Cold Outlaw.
The band's been gradually building up a profile and have been picked up as openers by the likes of Tracii Guns' League of Gentlemen as well as appearing at the Rock 'N' The Valley Festival alongside Warrant and Skid Row. They were also featured at Chicago's Rocklahoma launch party at The Double Door, co-headlining with fellow 'Windy City' rockers Hessler.
"Excess" slices this EP wide open with Mark Shred's razor like riff over the punky rasp of Polish lead vocalist Karina Sunqueen, who's out on the town 'being your fantasy, shots of whiskey and getting frisky' -- not a great rhyme to be sure but trust me, it works.

SUSPYRE – SUSPYRE (2012)

Prog Metal Progressive Rock
It's been 4 years since their excellent When Time Fades... CD, but New Jersey's progressive metal titans Suspyre are back with their latest release, simply titled Suspyre. There have been some changes in the Suspyre camp since we've last seen them, and the band is now comprised of Clay Barton (vocals), Sam Bhoot (bass), Andrew Distabile (guitar), Gabriel Marshall (drums), Gregg Rossetti ( guitars, fretless bass, Chapman Stick, tenor saxophone, alto saxophone), and April Sese (keyboards). Fret not, despite some changes, the band has not altered their approach to creating adventurous progressive metal of the highest quality.
