Style: Progressive Rock
Tracklist: Mp3/ 192kbps
Info: 101,35 ??

Echolyn was formed in 1989 when guitarist Brett Kull and drummer Paul Ramsey, members of a recently split cover band called Narcissus, joined with keyboardist Chris Buzby to form a new band to focus on original songs. They were soon joined by fellow Narcissus veteran Ray Weston on vocals and bassist Jesse Reyes, and quickly began playing live and recording their eponymous debut album, which was released in 1991. During the recording of that album, Reyes was replaced on bass by Tom Hyatt.

With this lineup, Echolyn recorded a second album, Suffocating the Bloom, and a 4-song EP, ...and every blossom, and with these releases attracted the attention of Sony Music. In 1993, Echolyn was signed to a multi-album deal on Sony's Epic Records label, and their major-label debut, As the World, was released in March 1995.

PROCOSMIAN FANNYFIDDLERS is a seven-members collective formed in 1995 in Trondheim, Norway. They're providing a delightful exploration of folk, medieval music, avangarde, tinged with heavy music and what not - often with humourous spice. The members are: Geir Venom Larzen (drums, guitar, keyboards, vokal), Erik Andås (bass, vocal, keyboards), Ole Peder Teigen (Keyboards, vocal), Øyvind Eriksen (vocals), Heidi Larzen (vocals), Mette Jensen (lute(?)), Fløyte (vocals, keyboards) and Bente Marit Ekker (violin).
As you can imagine, this populous flock is capable of real energetic bursts and cacophony - all that intertwined with some really great melodic lines. If you are looking for quirkiness of GONG, stepping in all possible various directions, including punk, this is the band for you.

The Offspring have debuted the title track / first single from their upcoming ninth album ‘Days Go By’ and it’s what you’d expect from these perennial Warped Tour rockers. Potent melodies, singalong choruses, big power chords, frontman Dexter Holland’s signature nasally vocals and a summer-appropriate energy.

While the Offspring have delivered their share of well-constructed but kitschy novelty songs (‘Pretty Fly (For a White Guy),’ ‘Why Don’t You Get a Job’ and ‘She’s Got Issues’), ‘Days Go By’ is gimmick-free. It’s a bit more contemplative, lyrically and comparatively speaking, as Holland ponders the then and the now. Overall, it has the bouncy rock vibe of a Foo Fighters tune with the added sprinkle of the Offspring’s American punk rock flavor.

The name Per Fredrik "PelleK" Åsly may not be familiar to U.S. metal fans. He is the vocalist for UK-based band Damnation Angels, and the US-based band The Anabasis. According to his bio, his musical career started in 2009, where he entered the talent-show "The X Factor" on National TV in Norway. This TV show was broadcasted for millions of viewers in Norway. PelleK showed Norway how to sing power metal songs, more than anything and also to try and introduce the Norwegian people to power metal (in some areas) "unheard of" music genre. Despite competing against the more than 12,000 pop and poprock singers, PelleK ended up top 12, and went on to the final rounds on live TV, singing Italian and German power metal songs. From there, he was signed to Liljegren Records / Doolittle Group, home to ReinXeed, which explains why Tommy ReinXeed produced “Bag of Tricks” as well as played on the album, also featuring guest appearances from Marit Børresen, Tommy Karevik (Seventh Wonder), Anders R.S, Oliver Hartmann (At Vance & Hartmann) and Amanda Somerville (Avantasia,Trillium).

now...

I've never been much for the singer/songwriter genre, male or female. It's often too introspective and eclectic fare, both lyrically and musically. So here's Xenia Dunford, a transplant, or better an Eastern exile, to California from Boston. She offers five of her songs on her EP Lonely Streets.

It's rather light fare, with Dunford leading with vocals and electric piano. It's quiet, too. I've spun it twice, and almost fell asleep both times. Even the country liveliness of Best I've Ever Had couldn't rouse me like a 5-hour energy drinks. Frankly, the songs are also rather melancholy, almost depressing. I'm not so sure if it's the texture of the music or the lyrics, or both.

IN EXTREMO is without any doubt the band which is must be seen live. I would say at least once in life, but after the first time you probably would die to see it once again. For years they prove the reputation of one of the best bands as well as one of the best live-bands. And the fact, that ‘Sterneneisen (Live aus Siegen)’ is the sixth live-album of the band speaks for itself. For seventeen years that the band exists, thousands of people all over the world enjoy their concerts, even in China, where IN EXTREMO played some years ago within the “Year of Germany”. Chinese public was so excited that police had to worry a lot, as if the revolution would start any minute.
