NOW!NEW ALBUM!

British heavy metal singer Blaze Bayley (WOLFSBANE, ex-IRON MAIDEN).

When asked about the recording process for his new album, "The King Of Metal"Blaze said, "I don't like to spend a lot of time in the studio, I don't feel it's a very creative environment. I like to spend most of my time on an album in the writing process and the composing. I feel that's the bit that really counts. I'm always thinking of the audience, the fans and how I'm going to perform the songs live."

When asked if he could offer any insight as to what the new album will sound like, Blaze said, "It'll be a bit different to what I've done before because I'm producing it. There will be a lot of heavy metal, as you would expect from a Blaze Bayley album. We decided to have no rules; if we feel something is appropriate to sing or play, we will. It's all about the vibe and passion. I'm very hopeful it will turn out to be my best work."

You can listen to the entire interview using the SoundCloud player below.

Blaze has announced that he will be accompanied by the following musicians on his upcoming "King Of Metal" tour:

Matteo "Lehmann" Grazzini (NEURASTHENIA) - Bass
Claudio Tirincanti - Drums
Andrea Neri (ASTARTE SYRIACA) - Guitar
Thomas Zwijsen (NYLON MAIDEN) - Guitar

Bayley is currently at Fear Studio in Ravenna, Italy recording his new studio album, "The King Of Metal", for a spring release. A European headlining tour in support of the CD will kick off in early March in Belgium.

In a recent interview with Metal Blast, Bayley stated about "The King of Metal", "This album is a bit more back towards my classic metal style; it's closer to the 'Silicon Messiah' and 'Tenth Dimension' albums. Although I didn't plan it that way, this is how it has worked out. . . I've been working very closely with a young guitar player called Thomas Zwijsen, who has co-written most of the songs, and it has worked very well. Now, the title track, 'The King Of Metal', is dedicated to the fans, because they are the real kings of metal. Without the fans, there's no heavy metal, and I think that people trivialize that and even disrespect heavy metal fans, compared to fans of pop or jazz. I've called the album 'The King Of Metal' as a tribute to heavy metal fans, thanks to whom it has been possible for me to have such a wonderful career and spend my life as a professional singer."

Blaze last year parted ways with the rest of his band in order to pursue a career as a solo artist and the lead singer of WOLFSBANE. He explained the decision by saying that "the mental, financial and emotional strain of keeping the BLAZE BAYLEY band together has proven to be too much for me and has taken a terrible toll on my mental health. . . It has been an upsetting, frustrating and sad time because the BLAZE BAYLEY band will not be going on any more, but it is also for me a huge relief and a time to look forward."

was born and raised in Memphis, a town where the music flows through the streets like rainwater. He grew up listening to the Beatles, but couldn’t help being influenced by the sounds of Memphis: Sun Studio, Beale Street, jazz, rock and blues. Just down the road from Beale and Sun is another musical landmark, Ardent Recording Studios.

Sound of the Broken was recorded at Ardent Studios and co-produced by Horn alongside James Joseph (Todd Agnew) and Curry Weber (Todd Agnew, Joy Whitlock).

Horn’s desire to serve through music has resulted in his role as the worship leader in his home church, Christ the Rock Community Church in Memphis, and an understanding of his calling.

Hysterica, Sweden’s self-proclaimed “girls made of heavy metal,” are back with their second full-length album, titledThe Art of Metal. The all-girl traditional metal band may have garnered attention by being, well, an all-girl traditional metal band, but that only goes so far in a genre where the metal has to do the talking. Fortunately Hysterica’s brand of heavy metal speaks quite loud and clear and proves that this band is more than just a collection of pretty faces.

The Art of Metal continues the in your face heavy metal style we heard on the debut Hysterica album (2009’s Metalwar). It’s all bombastic guitar riffs, chugging rhythms, fantastic melodies (they are from Sweden after all), and shout-along choruses about kicking ass and being a warrior for metal. The vocals are mostly clean – a mix between softer singing and a more forceful style – but there’s also a measure of death metal growling (quite similar to Arch Enemy’s Angela Gossow) that adds an extra metal punch to a few of these songs. Highlights include “Breaking the Walls,” “Fighters of the Century,” “Hysterica” and the closing anthem “Daughters of the Night,” but the whole of The Art of Metal is really rock-solid. You’re going to bang your head to this one.

While there’s an undeniable “gimmick factor” at work with this band (they’re certainly not downplaying their gender or looks in the promo photos after all), you can’t deny the fact that Hysterica has the musical chops to back it up. The Art of Metal is a very solid slab of traditionally minded heavy metal that’s on par with recent releases from White Wizzard, Cauldron, Enforcer and Benedictum. It may be cheesy, but it still kicks ass!

Coming from things at roughly the same direction as, say, the guys in Riverside playing Opeth songs in a Katatonia covers band Enochian Theory are fine additions to the European prog metal canon – except they are as British as taxes and bad weather. The band wear their influences proudly on their collective sleeves although weave their own thread into the tapestry to come up with an overtly appealing album.

Formed towards the tail end of 2004, Enochian Theory are a massive talented three-piece consisting of Benedict Harris-Haynes (vocals, guitars and piano), Shaun Rayment (bass) and Sam Street (druns and percussion). The band already have two releases under their belts – their 2006 EP ‘A Monument To The Death Of An Idea’ and 2009’s debut album ‘Evolution: Creatio Ex Nihilio’, both self-released although the latter was picked up by Mascot and re-issued by the label in 2010 – and have maintained a fairly consistently high profile across the prog metal world both through well-received tours and a mass of highly complimentary reviews. Their second full-length offering ‘Life… And All It Entails’ should build nicely upon these solid foundations, presenting itself as it does as a full-blown challenge to the genre leaders to sit up and take notice.

With songs ranging from the introspective and alienated (opener ‘This Aching Isolation’, for example) to the more hard-edged and malevolent (‘For Your Glory’) ‘Life… And All It Entails’ encapsulates the beauty and majesty of contemporary progressive metal. The musicianship is flawless, the songs ebb and flow and twist and turn without ever losing their accessibility… It’s not so much an album as a masterclass of the genre. But that’s not to say it lacks soul: if you want to zero in on a highlight, check out the pairing of brooding and passionate ‘Nisi Credideritis, Non Intelligetis’ and its next-in-line, the cutting voice-overed instrumental ‘The Motives Of The Machine’: in just two songs the band say more themselves than many bands can manage in a whole album.

I’ve got a feeling that ‘Life… And All It Entails’ is just the tip of the iceberg for Enochian Theory. There’s a lot more hidden depths to reveal themselves yet.

In 1984, vocalist Kory Clarke (WARRIOR SOUL) recorded an album in LA with producer/songwriter Kim Fowley (THE RUNAWAYS, Destroyer-era KISS). The album was lost for 28 Years, but it has been found and brought back to life. This legendary Detroit band, THE TRIAL, will finally be heard.

The most important thing to know about The Trial – this remarkable, squalling, sneering, despairing riot of art rock – is that this is the proto-Warrior Soul. The place, for Kory Clarke, that it all truly began.

By the time Warrior Soul started swinging blows of timely warning from the shadows of New York City, Kory had abandoned his drum kit and was standing up front – all hair, raised fists and metallic street poetry. Nothing has changed. Those that truly supported him then truly support him now. But how many of those people are aware of The Trial, the origins of Warrior Soul and an important band and album in its own right? Even the most ardent fan probably only knows of The Trial by name, and fewer still will have ever heard their music.

That time has now ended, with the release of this extraordinary and pivotal album, a release that quite incredibly hails from 1983, not merely years before the rise of grunge and alternative metal, but even pre-dating the Hollywood hair metal era that that scene usurped. If you wanted any further evidence of Kory’s artistry and forward thinking, here it is.

Confrontational and steeped in reverb, The Trial’s music stalks the dark underground channels between the first Warrior Soul album and classic Killing Joke. “Where do I fit in?” roars Kory in 9th Grade, the start of a quest that continues today. Songs like this, the fiery New Rock and the deliciously cynical Human Beings, fight the fight for the underdog and the disenfranchised, the self-proclaimed losers that don’t fit. Drenched in psychedelic, seething guitars – a sound familiar to those who freaked out to Warrior Soul’s Trippin On Ecstasy – the canvas is colored in dark hues. It is propelled by Kory’s exhausting rhythmic barrage and, of course, his voice – a voice that sounds like the last voice at the end of the last bit of everything. Last decade, dead century anyone?

It’s impossible to listen to this decades-delayed work and not picture the doubtless head-fucking spectacle of the band playing live. Kory at the back, singing and playing drums simultaneously (no small achievement in itself!) but projected to the audience on big screens at the front. Footage interspersed with disturbing images of corpses, of porn and American TV advertisements. This already was an artist seeking to challenge people’s preconceptions, to disturb, probe and ask questions. The wicked riffs and anti-establishmentarianism that pummels “Ruler” along is yet another sign of things to come. The skittering guitars and shout-out-loud hooks of “Skeleton Dance” follow suit.

Much has been written, not least of all by this writer, about how Kory Clarke and Warrior Soul were among the most important artists to emerge in metal’s turn-of-the-Nineties rebirth, and that by rights they should also have stood alongside its biggest selling. No feeling of injustice, however keenly felt, can ever re-write history but, satisfyingly, this early project confirms that we were right all the time. For Warrior Soul fans past and present, it’s time to stand Trial.

A little over a year ago I came across a band from down under, led by a member of progressive Metal band Anubis. This band goes by the name of Hemina. The Free dictionary says the meaning of Hemina is half a sextary or ten fluid ounces. I don't know about that. What I do know is that last year saw their debut with As we know it, an Ep with 5 tracks, three of the tracks we now find on their first full length debut album which goes by the name Synthetic.

With their Ep gaining grandeur reviews stating Hemina as an up and coming band, my expectations were rather high when I received the album. I work a little ahead if I say I was not in the least disappointed by the Hemina crew. Synthetic has become a stunning album from the first note until the last note rings away in the air.

From the opener "The Hour of Ours", slowly starting the album off, setting the mood of what is yet to come with the rest. It must be said that the album is best listened to if downloaded without pauses between the songs as all of them are linked together, and to avoid sudden stops no breaks please!

Having said that track one goes into track two, floating into one another very smoothly. With "To Conceive a Plan", mastermind behind Hemina Dougie Skene leaves no doubt, Hemina mean business. In doing that they have made a plan that is about to be conceived. In a musical sense it can be compared to the music of Dream Theater, complex but yet easy to grasp the tunes, with a lot of stunning guitar work and keyboards. Very good melody lines making the song stick in your mind when it has finished. It is quite refreshing to hear a band from down under play like this. After the band conceive the plan they find "The boy is Dead", how awful that must be. A song full of the characteristics of prog rock, changes in tempo, strange twists. Stunning guitar solos... what else is there to want. Doug Skene is the guitarist and singer in the band, he has a distinct voice. It can't be missed.

Next up are the three songs that have appeared on the EP from 2010. These are already known to a wider public, but if you don't know Hemina, this is brilliant. The song blend in nicely or should I say the album has evolved quite nicely around these songs. I guess which ever you prever.

Followed up by "Hunting is for Women", now I always thought it was for men, how mistaken I was. It a nice uptempo groovy song in the veins of the best prog around. Absolute smashing stuff, and this one is follwed by the bombastic & orchestral "Even in Heaven". A song that will grab audiences when doing it live I am sure. One thing I missed on the album, No real chorusses, or sing along songs. Still this is a typical Arena wide song. The short intermezzo "To cunduit To the sky" is very welcome after all the banging and fast playing. A moment to relax, before we go to the last tracks "Haunting Me" and "Divine". As two of a perfect pair to form the last 15 minutes.

All in all one can state: Douglas Skene is a great guitarist and singer, the rest of the band are Mitch Coull, guitar and vocals, Jessica Martin bass and vocals, Andrew Craig Drums and Percussion and last but not least Phill Eltachi keyboards. Together from down under they are Hemina.

ONLY OUR SITE!CRAZY RELEASE!

"Faithless" will appear on Tyketto's first new album in 18 years, 'Dig In Deep', due for release on April 20th in Europe and April 24th in North America. 'Dig In Deep' features the original Tyketto line-up of Danny Vaughn (lead vocals), Brooke St. James (lead guitar/backing vocals), Jimi Kennedy (bass/backing vocals) and Michael Clayton (drums/backing vocals). With recent appearances at Sweden Rock, Download, Firefest, Hard Rock Hell and Hard in Rio, the band realized they still had a huge fan base worldwide and the timing was perfect for a new album.

Formed in New Jersey in 1990, Tyketto released their major label debut 'Don't Come Easy' in 1991. The album contained the hit AOR songs "Forever Young" and "Seasons" as well as "Wings" and "End Of The Summer Days", whose respective videos, along with "Forever Young", were in heavy rotation on MTV. Tyketto has sold hundreds of thousands of albums worldwide.

In a November interview with SleazeRoxx.com Danny Vaughn stated, "It's a double edged sword, the 'Don't Come Easy' thing, because there will always be some people who, if you try to remake that exact feel, exact vibe and write songs just like those songs, will say 'they're just trying to do what they did and make it sell, they've got nothing new and it's the same stuff regurgitated'. If you go out and do something totally different then some people will complain that 'it's nothing like 'Don't Come Easy', what do these guys think they are doing?' So I guarantee there is going to be somebody unhappy."

"The thing with us is I think we walk both lines, because obviously it's many years later, so our musicianship is different and the music we've been exposed to has changed", continued the singer. "But we are not going to try and make Tyketto sound like ... I can't think who ... but I think it will sound like us. It will have some more maturity to it. I think there are going to be some differences, but I'm not going to change the way I sing. My harmony structures will be similar and my belief in what makes a big chorus is still there. What I do know is that this album is going to be pretty damn aggressive -- not in a thrash metal sense. Some of the songs are making me think of Def Leppard. There is a ballad, but I don't know if there will be more than one. I think it's going to be a very fast-paced and aggressive record. Now we are starting to throw in the elements that will make it more like what people know of Tyketto -- the acoustic guitar will blend in at certain points. I think it will be exactly what it is, people will hear it and go 'yes, that is Tyketto' and 'yes, that is not old Tyketto, that is Tyketto 2011'."
