AMAZE ME is project from Sweden consist of Peter Broman, a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer and Conny Lind (MATSSON, GREAT KING RAT, STATE OF MIND) in charge of the lead vocals. Following their collaboration the duo released four studio albums: “Amaze Me” in 1995, “Dream On” in 1997, “Wonderland” in 1998, “Ultimate Collection” in 2012. After the last compilation, the project is at it again with brand new material named “Guilty As Sin”, which is about to be released. Engineering master, Martin Kronlund, took care of the mastering for this album.
Straight from the top, the opening “Everybody” is very catchy, as expected, providing an AOR glittering prize, great 80s driven melodies that might hint of FOREIGNER. “On The Run” is one of the fast paced tracks, consists of a memorable chorus with dynamism and great guitar riffs, yet with its out of AOR heaviness, I enjoyed more of “With Or Without You”, not a cover of the U2 classic. The song's heavy riffing, impressive guitar solo and the undeniable chorus, will surely mesmerize. I really enjoyed the energies. “Dying To Be Loved” endorsed wonderful singing, 80s oriented, with beautiful lyrics. In energetic “Save Me” reminded me of the atmospheric nature of the Robs, Mancini and Moratti, rocking riffs, wonderful keyboards and dynamic drumming. It was almost the same with the image of the emotive “Can't Stop Loving You”. “Endless Love”, a great example of an AOR song, 80s based, great drumming along with impressive riffing. “Lost In A Dream” is one of the sensitive ones, a beautiful presentation of skill. Others worth listening are "Love Is Blind” where there is a mixture with modern elements, and title track “Guilty As Sin” has powerful and melodic chorus.
AMAZE ME is a journey through AOR lands of the 80s, with a slight shift towards the contemporary Rock music. Fans of the 80s will adore this one. The entire tracklist of 12 songs are powerful driven melodic Hard Rock and AOR styled balladry. High quality stuff to the extent that it is hard to believe that this album was played by only 2 guys. Totally great and highly recommend.
