Famous for their stirring love songs and soaring vocal lines, Air Supply was one of the most popular soft-pop bands in the 1980s. This 2001 DVD companion to the 1999 CD release features new introductions by Russell Hitchcock and Graham Russell and a wonderful selection of live concert footage and music videos, primarily from the 1980s, but some recent footage as well.
The DVD opens with Hitchcock and Russell's description of a chance, 1975 meeting at a Melbourne rehearsal for Jesus Christ Superstar that led to the 1976 formation of the duo Air Supply. Hitchcock and Russell preface each of the 15 musical selections with background information about the song and their reflections about individual performances and venues. The romantic music of Air Supply is well represented by songs such as "Lost in Love," "Sweet Dreams," and "Now and Forever," and the crystal-clear video footage is packed with interesting camera angles and romantic effects. The Dolby 5.1 surround sound is impressive--the only exception being the live concert version of "Every Woman in the World," in which the lead vocals seem muffled and overpowered by the background tracks. Optional onscreen lyrics accompany "Lost in Love," "All Out of Love," and "The One That You Love." Air Supply fans won't want to miss this great compilation of favorite songs.
