American band ABLE KANE from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, put out only one full album in 1983; “Stealin’ The Show”. It’s a really good piece of work and their Pomp Rock has it all, everything an AOR record needed in the early Eighties. You get a stadium rock sound, emotional ballads and beautifully crafted guitars.
They play music in the vein of legendary outfits like JOURNEY, SURVIVOR or NIGHT RANGER. The wonderful “Never Let Me Go” does offer a certain BOSTON touch, though.
Now 2025 the album comes remastered and for the first time on CD reissued by Eonian Records, re-titled “Stealin’ The Show… Again“, including a complete extended booklet with the band’s history.
This is a LP that would go on to become a sought-after collector’s item decades later. Although the band completed the album, tragedy struck when Pete DeAngelis, a legendary producer and founder of Chancellor Records, passed away. Pete had shown great interest in the group and had pledged to secure a recording and publishing deal for them with industry icon Don Kirshner. He had also promised to cover studio expenses. Following Pete’s death, those promises were left unfulfilled, and the band was forced to self-finance the completion and independent release of their album in limited quantities.
Some albums don’t just deserve a second chance—they demand it. ”Stealin’ The Show Again”, the freshly remastered reissue of Able Kane’s long-lost 1983 debut, is one of those rare rediscoveries that makes you wonder how it ever slipped through the cracks in the first place.
