600x600Just cruising….

If you are a heavy metal classic musician, already had your own band and took a break, don’t like at all what you hear on the radio these days and just happened to bump into your old band mates, what can you do? Before getting to the sixth beer, it’s already settled: form a new band and make some good music with and for your good friends.

Mind me, the result can be quite rewarding! It seems that the Italians from “Dust Devil” did just that and they don’t sound bad at all.

They released their debut EP “Riled Up” this end of March, and already got some attention from the public.

The album is indeed pure heavy metal, just as they advertise – nice to listen to in your car during a long ride or playing it while having beer with friends.

The album starts out nicely with a song well chosen, “Blurred Mind”, which is also representative for the entire EP and gives you a very clear idea of what to expect next. And what comes next is classic guitar, nice vocals and cool drums, so nothing to complain about in general, but on the other hand, nothing that stands out.

Of the five songs on the EP, the only one that breaches the unadventurous melodic line is “Live to Die for You”, and only because of the experimental vocal twists done by front man Leonardo Romeo. And the last piece “Back To The Metal Show” is showing even more confidence even if it doesn’t go far from the previous rhythm.

Taking into account though that at the moment “Dust Devil” are self produced, their work, taken as a whole, is quite promising. It’s not ambitious, and it doesn’t try to appear anything else than it really is. Just old, honest, reliable heavy metal. And we do enjoy it just the way it is.
