At age 20, BRYAN ADAMS released his eponymous debut album. He rose to fame in North America with the 1983 top 10 album Cuts Like A Knife, featuring its title track and the ballad “Straight From the Heart”, his first US top 10 hit, which he wrote at age 18. His 1984 Canadian and U.S. #1 album, Reckless, became the first album by a Canadian to be certified diamond in Canada and made him a global star with six charting singles including “Run to You” and “Summer of ’69”, both top ten hits in the US and Canada, and the power ballad “Heaven”, a US number one hit.
In 1987, Adams released his seventh studio album, ”Into The Fire”, from which 6 singles were taken; “Heat of the Night”, “Hearts on Fire”, “Victim of Love”, “Only the Strong Survive”, “Into the Fire” and “Another Day”. The record, released worldwide on 30th March ’87 reached number 7 on the Billboard 200, and the Top 10 in several other countries.
The ”Into the Fire Tour” took place throughout 1987 and 1988 with dates in North America, Europe and Japan to promote the album. Bryan played two batches of dates in the UK, firstly in June ’87, when he performed a charity event for the Prince’s Trust, a date at Wembley Stadium, plus a night at London’s famous Marquee Club in Soho, home of gigs by every rock legends.
“Down The Marquee” captures that night with a very good sound quality, Accompanied by what many consider to be the strongest configuration of The Dudes Of Leisure (AKA Adams’ backing band), this performance perfectly encapsulates Bryan Adams’ strengths as a singer, songwriter and bandleader.
Highly Recommended
