"Meridian II" feels like a significant leap over its predecessor. The Progressive Metal experimentation is retained from "Meridian I," but gone are that album's pacing problems and lack of variety in the longer tracks. "Meridian II" feels tighter, less sprawling, more focused, and more thematically cohesive. Being part of a four-part series, PHAVIAN needed this album to be good in order to get fans to stick around for the second half of the series, and with "Meridian II" being such a great improvement from "Meridian I," it appears they've succeeded admirably.
