Over 9 years since their previous studio album the Dutch progressive rock band The Aurora Project returns with a brand new studio album entitled “EVOS12” on February 21st, 2025.
“EVOS12” the first of a two album concept, which is not unusual as their previous albums always have been concept albums.
The synopsis of the “EVOS” story: “…After the Dronewars, humanity gathered in massive cities, losing its sense of purpose. The new world’s leaders seized control, deepening the divide between themselves and the people. Nigel Light struggled to survive in the ruins of a city that once valued dreams, freedom, and equality. Far away, on the moon Welda, a young genius made a discovery with the potential to save his world. If only Earth could learn from Welda…”.To accompany the album the band is currently releasing an #EVOS12 podcast on their social media accounts. The Aurora Project hail from Katwijk, Netherlands. Formed in 1998, the band members bonded over their love for Magic: The Gathering and progressive rock & metal. Inspired by bands like Rush, Pink Floyd and the Gathering, they create intricate concept albums through extensive jam sessions. Known for their dynamic live performances, The Aurora Project has played major prog festivals like ProgPower Europe and shared stages with Riverside and Threshold. They continue to push the boundaries of progressive rock.
