As requested, here’s the one and only album from Canadian melodic hard rockers VIGILANTS, 1985’s “Run For Cover“. Hailing from Brantford, Ontario, VIGILANTS got the title track included into the compilations ‘Maple Metal’ and ‘Q107 Toronto Rock Station’, and received considerable airplay.

This lead an arrangement with H&S Records (Helix early albums) for the release of this album, which in fact it’s’ a mini-LP as it used to happen with novel bands. They even did a video clip for “Run For Cover” starring Lee Aaron. Watch it below, it’s a ridiculous but fun ’80s clip… ahh those were the times. Take a look at the cover art – love it.
“Run For Cover” only was released on vinyl and cassette, but some time ago Heavy Metal America Records (who released the album in UK back in the ’80s) put this remastered version exclusively on iTunes – it isn’t available anywhere else.

This proved to be Vigilants only outing, but this short dose of melodic hard rock / metal is a wonderful antidote to their short career. The foursome had entered and won Q107’s annual Homegrown contest and used the prize money to record “Run For Cover”.
This is pure mid-Eighties melodic hard rock, catchy, entertaining, and well recorded.
Highly Recommended
