Denim was formed in 1970 and the band is based in Austin, Texas. Denim's first album was released on Epic Records in 1977. The album was produced by John Boylan and the first he produced after Boston's debut album. At the time of the release the band was compared to the Eagles. The album was their only release on Epic. After a struggle with the record companies, Denim was forced to temporarily change their name to "Traveler" to be able to get their second album released on ABC. The second album was their last major label release and they soon changed the name back to Denim. Since 1995 the band has released 4 albums on their own label Grump Records.
The band is still active and they are working on their 7th album according to a comment posted on Discogs in January, 2023 apparently by the younger daughter of Bill Browder.
