This new release almost passed unnoticed but here’s plotn08 to bring to you worth to listen bands. Using as title “Phoenix Lepidoptera” – the scientific name for a butterfly, but here on the cover, in flames – these are the lost recordings from obscure German band from the ’80s STEAMER.

STEAMER’s history is almost a mystery, none, band members or old fans created, at least, a Facebook page to remember this group which operated in the second half of the ’80s.
And STEAMER is very fun and entertaining; “Phoenix Lepidoptera” sounds like a lost Jani Lane & Warrant demo / album, or an unknown Black N’ Blue session from 1987. That’s it; STEAMER’s is Americanized melodic hard rock / glam / hair metal, and nicely done, with sharp guitars, solid rhythm section and a proper vocalist for the genre.
Musically we find catchy choruses, hooks galore, multi-part vocal harmonies, and all pretty well recorded considering the band only released a locally distributed cassette. Some of these songs were part of German compilations ‘Musik Szene Saar’ from the era showcasing local bands from the South West Saarland region of Germany.
