BLACK ROSE was formed in 1990 in Fagersta, a small town in Sweden. After a couple of early member changes the line-up remained stable for almost ten years. The debut full-length “Fortune Favours The Brave” was released by Bums Records in 1993. Throughout the rest of the 90’s BLACK ROSE continued to play lots of gigs in Sweden and released a couple of mini-cds and demos.
In December 2001 Shark Records got in contact with the band which resulted in the self-titled 2002 album released in late March that year and the follow-up, “Explode” two year later. Both albums got great reviews. In late 2007 two new members, guitarist Thomas Berg and powerhouse-vocalist Peter Thederan joined. (Thomas, being the original BLACK ROSE guitarist, actually rejoined the band and so is not that new after all.)
More live shows followed. As well as several headlining-gigs BLACK ROSE played as support act to FATE, THE POODLES and PAIN OF SALVATION. Even a unique, one-off performance with Kee Marcello (EUROPE) got under way. The band started writing new songs and soon recorded 9 tracks that was then presented to Doolittle Group. Christian Liljegren (GOLDEN RESURRECTION, NARNIA, DIVINEFIRE etc…) liked what he heard and a record/management deal was signed. The brand new CD “Turn On The Night” will be released in January 2013.
BLACK ROSE’s style of music has been constant even through all the different trends that has come and gone. The style is Melodic Hard Rock/Metal, often compared to the likes of RAINBOW, YNGWIE, PRETTY MAIDS, TALISMAN, Pink Cream 69 and EUROPE.
