Wilson's hard-driving new song "Right to Rise" is a gutsy, high-octane tribute to Detroit -- a city of survivors with "the sound of a voice you can't drown out."
"What I wanted to do, first and foremost, was give our perspective on what we believe in, which is our city and the people in our city," vocalist Chad Nicefield says of the song. "It's the everyday man doing the everyday things to survive. I think that's what encompasses being a Midwesterner, specifically a Detroiter."
After several years of touring — and building a reputation for raucous live shows — Wilson's new album looks poised to propel the band onto the wider rock radar. This Freep First Spin debut comes ahead of the group's Saturday album-release party at the Crofoot in Pontiac, with national touring to follow.
