KRYPTONITE was founded in 2009 by Kevin Masannek, Tobias Borgmann and Tim Allgeier. In the same year, lead singer Chris Formella joined the band. In 2010 bassist Matthias Kafeia completed the group.

KRYPTONITE's musical style is inspired by the rhythm driven Hardrock and Blues of the 1970's and 1980's but is also fueled by dynamic modern elements from Alternative-Rock and the destructive power of Grunge.
Though the official founding in 2009 Kevin, Tim and Tobias already started making music together in 2005 where they interpreted old Hard Rock stuff like Kiss and ACDC. They went on with own new Songs when Chris joined in as Lead Singer. Their first fulminant live gig followed in February 2010. After this important piece of their very own music history it didn´t take a second thought for them to know that this was just what they were looking for. So KRYPTONITE continued playing at local gigs in their home area around Germany, Nordrhein-Westfalen. After several shows in fall, Matthias joined the band, because of one of his friend's suggestion. This was the birthday for the original KRYPTONITE lineup.

At this point KRYPTONITE's reputation as "Hometown Boys" was already reflected in local media. Until 2012 the band played about 50 gigs but never lost their actual goal: Out of the cage and up on the stage! Because even though Kryptonite liked the idea of being "Hometown Heroes", they always wanted to leave this little home pond and swim their way up to the big wide ocean. Several shows later KRYPTONITE was already played in radio and different newspapers had written about them.

The next step on their way is this beast of motherf*kin R'n'R you´re holding in your hands right now.
