Metallic Blue Records is releasing the highly anticipated two albums by 415 featuring vocalist Eric Martin. The albums, ‘Area Code 415‘ and ‘Boys Night Out‘, are finally here after being locked away in the vault for 4 decades.
Now, forty + years later, the unreleased albums of 415 are finally seeing the light of day thanks to a chance encounter between Eric Martin and two record executives. Fans can expect to hear some amazing talent on these albums, recorded at the same studio where Journey recorded their hit album, ‘Escape’. And the surprises don’t stop there, as some of the songs are produced by Gregg Rolie.
Apart from Eric Marin, 415 included in the line up future TESLA drummer Troy Luccketta, John Nymann (Guitar) who later joined Y&T, and David Jacobsen (Keyboards) later member of UFO. All already talented, capable musicians.
415 was later signed on to Elektra / Asylum Records, and their management decided to change the name of the outfit to the ERIC MARTIN BAND (EMB), as singer-named bands were popular during that time. EMB debuted their first album in 1983, entitled ‘Sucker for a Pretty Face’.
But these 415 unreleased albums are great, catchy, very well composed and professionally recorded: sound quality is excellent.
415 played hundreds of shows at nightclubs, beer parties, even high school and college dances, before eventually headlining San Francisco’s premiere night club – the Old Waldorf. Selling out in advance, word quickly spread about our dynamic live shows and soon we were opening for established acts like Billy Squier, Hall & Oates, Rick Springfield, Journey, Foreigner, to name a few.
Before being signed by Elektra, and still operating under the 415 moniker, Eric and the band recorded a lot of music, and that’s what we are listening for the first tiem here. Very good stuff!
Note; some time ago we featured at 0dayrox: “415 – Eric Martin Early Days The Complete Recordings [Unreleased]”. While some songs appear on ‘Area Code 415’ and ‘Boys Night Out’, most of them still remain unreleased and are exclusive from our 0dayrox compilation
Both ‘Area Code 415’ and ‘Boys Night Out’ are stupendous early ’80s sounding albums, melodious rock n’ roll with a terrific vocalist that eventually would became a mega star.
