Milan Polak - Scarred To Perfection 2015Guitarist / vocalist Milan Polak has today released their new album “Scarred To Perfection” where he commanded Kip Winger (Winger). Beginning as an internationally recognized guitar player, Milan Polak, over the last several years, has become equally recognized as a good songwriter and vocalist. He returns with his third vocal album, Scarred To Perfection, and this is some top notch AOR melodic rock.

Polak has keen and creative songwriting skills. He easily blends the important elements of melody and harmony with his impressive, often innovative, guitar work in his arrangements. On top of this, he’s simple a fine vocalist, having a smooth and melodic voice that compliments the character of every song. The songs themselves range in style from radio-friendly AOR rock to riff heavy rockers to something more progressive.

Belong, The Last Goodbye, and Cleansing, at the start of the album are some quite catchy melodic AOR rock. They are some of the best, most accessible songs here. This Time and No Compromise are some bruising rockers, thick with heavy riffs, but never without an underlying melody. Then songs like Karma and Green Demon seem different, almost experiments in nuanced tones from his guitar. Others songs return to something more straightforward like the ballads You & I and Rainbow, both having a more gentle approach and development, mostly accentuated by the vocal arrangements, but also some acoustic guitar in the latter song. Overall, Scarred To Perfection is a varied collection of interesting and entertaining AOR melodic hard rock, with Milan Polak’s songwriting and guitar skills at the forefront. Recommended.
