Undoubtedly, Retrospect's BEST OF 2011 release comes from NY-based CRYSTAL PROJECT. And I would even go as far to say one of Retrospect's best releases of ALL TIME!! Formerly known as CRYSTAL PISTOL (but changed the name due to confusion with a more recent Canadian band of the same name), CRYSTAL PROJECT were a stunning melodic hard rock / AOR band that recorded and performed live extensively during the 80's and early 90's. These songs were recorded during that time and will absolutely blow you away. Its criminal that these guys weren't one of the biggest bands of that era. All the best of elements of why we love melodic hard rock and AOR so much are packed here in this 2-Disc set

From the stellar vocals, massive vocal harmonies, first class guitar riffs and solo's, fat keyboards and tight punchy rhythm section all wrapped up in top notch production and some of the best songs you have ever heard!! Words simply can not do these guys justice. Imagine a mix of bands like Prophet, Dare, FM, Survivor, Journey, Heartland, Strangeways, Treat, Foreigner, Boston, later Triumph, Bon Jovi, Night Ranger, Damn Yankees, and on and on. These guys are top tier AORsters and we at Retrospect can't recommend this double-disc set highly enough.
The great news, is that Crystal Project are back together and will be releasing some new music in the future and will be doing some reunion shows!!  In the meantime, get crystallized!!
