On 22 th May release of the Swiss rock band Crystal Ball album “Life Rider” Crystal Ball came back stronger than ever, with the album DAWNBREAKER in 2013! The original members Scott Leach and Marcel Sardella reformed Crystal Ball with fresh blood and a great new frontman, Steven Mageney from Wuppertal, Germany. Steven is a experienced singer and the perfect match for the new Crystal Ball sound. LIFERIDER was once again produced, mixed, and mastered by Stefan Kaufmann (ex-Accept, ex-U.D.O.), while Thomas Ewerhard created the cover artwork.
LIFERIDER features a duet with Battle Beast’s Noora Louhimo as well as guest musician Stefan Kaufmann on acoustic guitar. LIFERIDER definitely hits harder than the average Shakra or Gotthard release, but it’s still melodic enough to merit comparisons to those bands. The guitar hooks pack plenty of punch, but they’re also incredibly catchy, as are the anthem-like choruses. Steven Mageney’s got a voice that, like Helloween’s Andi Deris, is perfect in a very narrow setting. Fortunately Crystal Ball plays the perfect style of music for his voice.
