FrontCatalano is a group of veteran hard rock and heavy metal musicians who like to play 80's styled music of those genres. Although the band is lead by Pat Catalano who himself has released a solo album,  Into the Darkness represents the band's debut album. Into the Darkness is a nice mixture of some melodic hard rock and heavy metal with 80's music in the cross hairs.

The vocals are very good and are handled nicely by lead vocalist Dean Pressley.  Some of you may recognize him as the singer of Gynger Lynn, the rather obscure hard rock/glam metal band that released a couple of albums in the late 80's/early 90's.  Just recently the albums have been re-released and Gynger Lynn is indeed working on new material.
There is nothing complicated on Into the Darkness, but the songs are very catchy and Dean does a terrific job on the vocals as they match the music very well.  No, I am not the biggest fan of the last song, but the rest of the songs very nice, particularly Little's Never Enough and Runnin' With the Wind which blend some softer moments, nice vocals and some good instrumental solos into a couple of standout songs.
There is not all good news surrounding the release of Into the Darkness, but there is a lot of hope and praying going on.  Just prior to the release of the album, lead singer Dean Pressley suffered a massive heart attack.  Although there were some tense moments, as of the time of this review, it appears that Dean will make it, although it appears he has a long road to recovery.  Send your prayers out to Dean, this holiday season, and make sure to have a listen to Into the Darkness.  It is a very nice 80's style hard rock/heavy metal album.
