Candlemass – Psalms For The Dead (2012)

Heavy Metal |Power Metal
Candlemass is one of the pioneers of doom metal, releasing one of the seminal albums in the genre back in 1986 with Epicus Doomicus Metallicus. A quarter century later the band has recorded what they say will be their final studio album, Psalms For The Undead. They still plan to play live and be around for their 30th anniversary in a couple of years. If this does end up being their swan song, it is a solid farewell. Reviewer Natalie Zed describes it as "unquestionably the finest of their most recent three releases, the work of seasoned musicians, with experience and craft now in place of raw talent and drive. The album is aware of itself, in the context of classic doom metal, seems to know exactly where it fits."
The Machine – Calmer Than You Are (2012)
May 31, 2012 18:34
Rock
The Machine is a three-piece psychedelic stoner rock band, together since somewhere 2007.
Calmer Than You Are is The Machine‘s fourth album. This time around, the band sports a more aggressive sound, but without compromising their extended psychedelic freak-outs.
Special guests at this album launch will be Monomyth. It’s the brand new instrumental outfit of Sander Evers (ex-35007 / ex-Gomer Pyle) and Selwyn Slop (ex-Incense / ex-Lucid).

Ugly Kid Joe – Stairway To Hell (2012) EP
May 30, 2012 21:52
Hard Rock
Stairway to Hell, Ugly Kid Joe’s reunion EP, wasn’t scheduled to be released until June 5… but the band decided to release it a week early for whatever reason, so it’s actually out now. You can purchase a legal download here or stream it below.
I’ve listened to it and it’s… well, it’s not bad. It’s not great, though. It’s certainly a million times better than 1996?s Motel California, which was the band’s last official release — but it’s not nearly as much fun as either America’s Least Wanted or Menace to Sobriety, which remains the band’s high points. I’m still waiting for that feel-good album which I’m gonna rock all summer long… I don’t think this is it.
