The recent press release for the upcoming Primal Fear album “Unbreakable” said simply this “a well-balanced “back to the roots” album. Yeah you know how those press memos go right? Proclaiming this and that and then the music really doesn’t even come close to the misleading advertisement, but in Primal Fear’s case, that couldn’t not be farthest from the truth. For years Primal has been moving into position as one of the premier Heavy Metal bands and with it’s power force vocals of front-man Ralf Scheepers, they have been lighting ablaze stages left and right through the years; compiling up to this point 9th studio album.

The leading direction on production has been razor sharp as bassist and multi producer Matt Sinner plays an intricate part in the band, as well as the now stable guitar duo of Magnus Karlsson and Alex Beyrodt who both are hotshots in the genre itself.

Ralf has been getting the comparison for a long time to the great Rob Halford himself the “metal god”, but is not fair to Scheepers to be thrown in that category with one of all time greatest metal vocalist. Regardless of comparison he has paved his own way to be considered one of the most consistent metal vocalists around.

With the strong potent vocals already in place the band keeps plowing forward with another consistent release. You know what you’re going to get with Primal Fear, if you don’t at this point expect it, then you’re not really a fan of their music. For all it’s force the bands strongest suit is the way they carry the metal torch alive and the metal spirit in all of us metal heads. This new album proves just that once more, alongside some diversity as the band tackles more melodic metal tunes in “Metal Nation” and the more progressive vibe in “Where Angels Die” which coincidentally could be one of the best songs the band has ever done, this epic brings a more melodic metal touch to it which is great stuff. The pledging straight up power metal piercing of “Marching Again” is the fastest song on the album, and yes it slays with menacing presence. My favorite tune comes via the super catchy and pile driving rhythm of “Born Again” a true metal tune that is both heavy and melancholy, perfect soaring song.

This is a great change of pace for Primal Fear as they have perfected a sound that jumps outside of just leveling the hell out of the battery with speedy crazed tempo riffs as some of their older material. Good for them as they have payed their dues to enter the realms of consistency, something that you could argue the band had been doing all long. With the expected ear crunching crisp production of Matt Sinner and the colossal guitar duo of Karlsson and Beyrodt you have quite a metal arsenal of talent on one album. Primal Fear breaks the new year with a bang offering one of their strongest records to date!!!

The annually promoted Pink Floyd tribute tour will feature 'The British Pink Floyd Show' rather than 'The Australian Pink Floyd Show' from 2011 after the Australian tribute act parted company with their UK promoter CMP.

Every year The Australian Pink Floyd Show, or TAPFS as they are also known, have toured one of the most large-scale productions you will ever see from a tribute act. Annually thrilling Pink Floyd fans around the world with their lavish live shows, the act are reknown across the globe for their outstanding attempts at recreating the look, feel, and sound of Pink Floyd's later world tours. We understand The Australian Pink Floyd show will return to UK circuits in 2011 though.

Click Here to Compare & Buy The British Pink Floyd Show Tickets at Stereoboard.com.

In the meantime, The British Pink Floyd Show will be taking over the reigns for their UK promoter CMP Entertainment, stopping off at Floyd's native United Kingdom for an extensive 31-date tour in April and May as well as a few dates in July and August too. Although the tribute act on show is changing, we are assured that everything else will remain the same.

The promoters have decided to change the name of the group to represent the increasing number of British musicians. Chas Cole, former promoter for TAPFS, had this to say about the change. "In recent years TAPFS tours have featured primarily British musicians and its come to the point where a British show is more appropriate. CMP doesn't want to stretch the goodwill of Pink Floyd or the fans and therefore, now is a good time to change."

Rest assured though, that is the only change that is happening. Everything else about the new 'BritFloyd' tour will stay the same, including the outstanding sound quality, staggering light shows and animations.

The British Pink Floyd Show will play the following UK dates:
1. Show Intro
02. Shine On You Crazy Diamond
03. Learning To Fly
04. High Hopes
05. Welcome To The Machine
06. Mother
07. Pig (Three Different Ones)

09. Time
10. The Great Gig In The Sky
11. Wish You Were Here
12. One Of These Days
13. Nobody Home
14. Us And Them
15. The Happiest Day Of Our Live
16. Another Brick In The Wall (part2)

ATKINS / MAY PROJECT, featuring Christian guitarist Paul May and former JUDAS PRIEST singer / HOLY RAGE frontman Al Atkins, have released their Serpents Kiss album in the UK. The album will be released in North America, Japan and Europe on November 15th.

According to Defenders Of The Faith author Neil Daniels:

"This CD proves that Good and Evil can, in fact, work together ... it is in the form of Christian guitarist Paul May and former Judas Priest singer and Holy Rage heavy metal frontman Al Atkins. This 10 track album is the product of two of the Midlands finest arcitects of rock and metal coming together to create something that is unique and totally exhilarating.

There are enough doses of melody and metal madness to entice fans of the genre and while it's solid, honest working class heavy metal it has it's roots in contemporary metal too with some fine axe-work and killer choruses.

Rock enthusiasts may also be keen on the heavy (metal) version of the classic KISS track 'Cold Gin', with Al's throaty nicotine-enhanced vocals adding extra effect and Paul's stern guitars adding some meat. It sit's perfectly on this album.

These guy's are not novices, far from it. Man they've been around the block more times than your average metalhead and this album is a culmination of their talents; an (un)holy brew of metal craziness.

Serpents Kiss will grab you from the beginning and wont let you go... you won't want it to! For some this will represent the best of British heavy metal while for others is a damn good way to spend an hour. It may be a one off CD. There may be more. But with this album they are bound to make an impact on the scene. I'm saying more of the former please!"

Crylord: Blood Of The Prophets

Heavy/Power Metal
3.5/5.0

Lion Music
Website MySpace
by Craig Hartranft,  10.03.2011

With little doubt, Boguslaw Balcerak can play guitar. Crylord is the project and platform for this versatile Polish guitarist who performs in the neo-classical tradition.Blood of the Prophets is his debut on Lion Music (well known for signing major new guitar talent). Besides several of Poland's finest musicians, Balcerak is supported on lead vocals by three men who are quite familiar with neo-classical inspired heavy metal: Carsten 'Lizard' Schulz, Goran Edman, and Marc Boals. Additionally, the album was produced by King Diamond guitarist Andy LaRocque.

Boguslaw BalcerakBalcerak and Crylord deliver solid melodic heavy and power metal driven by his fiery guitar work. Yet any axe slinger can rip up the fret board for a matter of record. But the real question is, can they do this in the context of well written songs? The answer for Balcerak and company is cautious affirmative. Blood of the Prophets, Grave of Love, Valley of the Dead, and Angel of Divine show inspiration beyond a clinic in guitar technique. Warrior's Moon or Behind the Walls of Sadness, maybe not so much. But Carsten Schulz steals the show on these anyway. However, for pure epic power metal and a double dose of fret angst, When the Time Has Come and The Healing Hands of Destruction offer a reasonable balance between guitar technique and song composition.

(Above right: Boguslaw Balcerak looking much too serious.)

Fundamentally, however, enjoying Boguslaw Balcerak's Crylord and Blood Of The Prophets likely depends on your interest and/or tolerance for neo-classical guitar technique. There's plenty of widdling and wiggling across the fret board here, and arpeggios abound. In the end, all this review stands on that opening sentence.

1. Ante Bellum Overture (Intro) (1:50)
2. Blood of the Prophets (5:58)
3. Grave of Love (4:34)
4. Bard’s Tale (4:56)
5. Warrior’s Moon (3:50)
6. Face of Destiny (5:07)
7. The Heretic (3:00)
8. Behind the Walls of Sadness (5:51)
9. Angel of Divine (4:16)
10. Valley of the Dead (8:12)
11. When the Time Has Come (5:09)
